1. What is the Osmium Visionary Contest?
The Osmium Visionary Contest, hosted by Osmium Institute Germany and Katerina Perez, is an international design competition aimed at showcasing innovative and creative jewelry designs that highlight Osmium as a primary material. Designers from around the world are invited to submit their unique concepts to be judged by a panel of experts in the jewelry industry.
2. Who can participate in the contest?
The contest is open to jewelry designers and manufacturers worldwide, whether you are an emerging talent or an established brand. There are no restrictions on whether the designer is an independent individual or part of a company. Each participant is allowed to submit three designs.
3. What are the key requirements for the design submission?
- Your design must feature Osmium as the primary or most highlighted material.
- Submissions must be original and feasible for production.
- The design must include technical drawings or 3D renderings.
- A brief inspiration and concept statement (max. 300 words) and designer biography (max. 200 words) must be included with your submission.
4. When is the submission deadline?
The deadline for submitting your design is March 25, 2025, at 11:59 pm. Late submissions will not be accepted, so make sure to submit your entry on time!
5. What are the prizes for the winners?
The top three winners will receive the following prizes:
1st Place: Cystalline Osmium (cut & certified) worth €30,000.
2nd Place: Crystalline Osmium (cut & certified) worth €20,000.
3rd Place: Crystalline Osmium (cut & certified) worth €10,000.
Additionally, all winners will have the opportunity to have their jewelry featured at exhibitions worldwide and will receive significant social media exposure.
The value of the prize depends on if the winning design is physically produced. If not, winners will receive 50% of the osmium prize value, including the osmium required to create the piece. Please see Terms & Conditions for detailed information.
6. How will the designs be judged?
Designs will be evaluated based on several factors, including but not limited to:
- Use of Osmium: Creativity, material integrity, and how the design highlights Osmium.
- Creativity and Originality: The uniqueness and innovation of the design concept.
- Feasibility for Production: Whether the design can be manufactured and is viable from a technical and material standpoint.
- Marketability and Commercial Potential: The design’s appeal to the jewelry market and target audience.
- Craftsmanship and Technical Excellence: Attention to detail and technical execution.
- Adherence to Competition Guidelines: Compliance with the submission guidelines and contest rules.
7. Can I submit my design to other contests at the same time?
Yes, you may submit the same design to other contests during the submission period. However, the Osmium portion of the design must remain exclusively Osmium and cannot be replaced with any other material for any competing contests.
8. Will my design be kept confidential?
Yes! All submissions will be kept confidential during the competition. The Osmium Institute will ensure that your design is not disclosed to third parties until the official announcement of winners. Afterward, designs may be used for promotional purposes, including exhibitions and social media.
9. What happens if I win the contest?
Winners are strongly encouraged to finalize their designs with the Osmium Institute and submit the completed pieces for exhibition. You will have the opportunity to showcase your creation at major jewelry and luxury exhibitions worldwide. You will also be recognized and featured on social media by both Katerina Perez and Osmium Institute and get a two page article about you and your design in the next issue of “Juwelier Business” – a magazine in multiple languages.
10. Are there any costs associated with participating?
No, there are no fees for entering the contest. However, winners may incur some costs associated with the creation of the final piece, such as manufacturing and shipping fees. The Osmium Institute will provide the necessary Osmium material to create the winning pieces.
11. How will my design be used after the contest?
If your design is selected as a finalist or winner, it may be showcased at global exhibitions and used for promotional activities by the Osmium Institute and Katerina Perez. You will also have the opportunity to sell your design to customers or enter into further collaborations for future production.
12. What are the terms for participation?
By submitting a design, participants agree to the terms and conditions outlined in the contest rules and Privacy Policy. This includes granting the Osmium Institute and Katerina Perez the right to use your design for promotional purposes and exhibition.
13. How will I be notified if I win?
Winners will be notified confidentiality directly by email on the 9th of April 2025. The public announcement will happen during During GemGenève 7th of May – 11th of May 2025.
14. Where will the winning pieces be exhibited?
Winning pieces will be exhibited at various international exhibitions across North and South America, Europe, the UAE, and Asia. If you want to have an idea which exhibitions have been attended in the last years, please check https://www.osmium.com/en/media/
15. How do I submit my design?
To submit your design, please visit our submission page. You will need to upload your design files (sketches, renderings), your concept statement, and your designer biography. Make sure to agree to the Terms and Conditions and our Privacy Policy before submitting.
16. What happens if I don’t win?
Even if your design is not selected as a winner, your submission still offers valuable exposure. All entries, including non-winning designs, will be showcased for their creativity and innovation. Additionally, you may be contacted for future opportunities with the Osmium Institute or Katerina Perez, including exhibitions, collaborations, and other contests. Your design may also be featured in future promotional efforts, and you will still benefit from certain social media coverage. 17. I have an upload problem, what should I do?
If you encounter any issues while uploading your design or have technical problems with the submission process, please contact us immediately at contest@osmium-institute.com. Our team will assist you in resolving the issue and ensuring your design is submitted correctly before the deadline.
18. I have already worked with Osmium, can I still enter?
Yes, you can still enter the Osmium Visionary Contest even if you have previously worked with Osmium. The contest is open to all designers, regardless of past collaborations. However, please ensure that the Osmium portion of your design remains exclusive for this contest and is not submitted to other competitions simultaneously with materials other than Osmium.
